Professionally-recognised qualifications from the London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF). We offer:

  • the LIBF Certificate in Mortgage Advice and Practice (CeMAP®)
  • the LIBF Diploma for Financial Advisers (DipFA®)
  • the LIBF Advanced Diploma for Financial Advisers (Adv DipFA®)


Training in soft skills and adviser skills, to help you:

  • build a rapport with your clients
  • understand the advice process 
  • identify and maximise opportunities for your clients


Business skills and ethics training to help you:

  • work in a client's best interests
  • be open, honest, and fair
  • become an asset to your firm

Work placements

If you don’t already work in a financial advice company, we can help you to secure a work placement during or after your studies by introducing you to local adviser firms that are looking for new talent. Placing you in an advice business means you benefit from:

  • a flying start to your career
  • the support and encouragement of an existing regulated firm
  • the opportunity to develop a career that suits your aspirations and location
  • often, the experience of working at your new firm while you study in an administrative, trainee, paraplanning or other role depending on the firm.

With connections to over 5,000 adviser firms in the UK, and with Quilter Financial Planning, one of the UK’s largest financial advice networks, in our group of companies we’re in a great position to help you get the placement that’s right for you.

Securing a work placement can mean that your employing firm sponsors your learning, paying some or all of the programme costs on your behalf. This will be a personal agreement between you and the business you’re looking to join, but we can support you in these conversations to help you to come to a suitable arrangement.


If you already work in a company which is willing to sponsor you and pay the cost of your learning, all you need to do is let us know the details when you fill in your application form. 

Online tests

As part of our application process, we may ask you to complete two online tests, one numerical and one verbal. Each test will take around 20 minutes to complete. We will email you the test details and ask that you complete them within five working days of receiving the email. You will need to let us know when you have completed the tests, and we will then contact you with your results and next steps.

The assessment centre

If you’re new to the financial advice industry (with less than one year's experience), or if you would like us to introduce you to advice firms for a work placement, we’ll invite you to spend half a day at our assessment centre.

At the assessment centre we’ll discuss expectations so that you understand what is needed to make a successful career as a financial adviser. The session includes exercises to test your communication and listening skills, interpersonal skills and other key attributes that are crucial to being successful. There is also a fact find exercise to give you a taste of what it’s really like to be an adviser.

After the session, we’ll complete a full evaluation of how you performed on the day and this will help us to decide whether to offer you a place on our programme and which advice firm you might be a suitable match for if you are looking for a work placement.

The assessment centres are held regionally depending upon where the majority of students are based - they are typically held in London or Manchester.
